Analytical Report - CTI Initiative on Exploring interoperability in APEC approaches on Green Finance and Sustainability Investing

In the context of efforts by the APEC Committee on Trade and Investment (CTI) to promote APEC’s sustainable agenda,  an initiative was launched to explore interoperability in APEC economies’ approaches on green/sustainable finance. The analytical report is the final stage of this initiative. It includes the analysis of 10 economies’ approaches, based on survey results. The report covers the issues of green finance instruments and taxonomies, government stimulus, principles of green finance frameworks and the scope of their application. The report highlights that the convergence of the economies’ approaches to green finance and sustainable investing can be a way to achieve higher efficiency of policies applied in the Asia-Pacific. The promotion of interoperability can be conducted through harmonization between the green criteria for bonds and loans among economies in order to create transparent environment for foreign investors and facilitate investment flows in the region.
